Architect Kyle Bergman has been involved with Pacific Rim Park since it started in 1994. He has been actively involved with every park as well as being on the board of directors and as the president of the board. With eight parks already built, the next chapter for PRP is to create more parks, more often, and further strengthen the ties that connect the PRP family.

Kyle Bergman has been involved with design/build education since 1992 when he created and moderated an architectural lecture series about the design/build process for the Smithsonian Institute. He has taught community design/build classes in the Dominican Republic for the Yestermorrow Design/Build School in Vermont, and served on their board of directors for 9 years.

Mr. Bergman founded the Architecture & Design Film Festival (ADFF) in 2009 and serves as its festival director. He has always recognized the strong connection between architecture and film and ADFF provides a unique opportunity to educate, entertain and engage people who are passionate about the world of architecture and design. Now in its 12th season, ADFF has grown to become the largest film festival dedicated to the creative spirit of architecture and design.

An entrepreneur at heart, Mr. Bergman founded Alt Spec in 1999, a publishing company that produced a visual resource of unique and alternative products for architects and designers. He also produced a play, The Glass House, about the design and construction of two famous homes — Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth House and Phillip Johnson’s Glass House.

Marianne has been working with James Hubbell and the Ilan-Lael Foundation for ten years to expand its impact and aid in the transition of the iconic Ilan-Lael property from private home to public resource. Marianne has chaired a $1.2 million dollar fundraising effort to construct the Foundation’s headquarters and program space at Ilan-Lael. She developed influential programs for the Ilan-Lael Foundation like Conversations on Beauty, the Triton Art Recovery & Repurpose Auction, and the Pacific Mosaic Youth Art Project.

Cristobal is a California-based designer, thinker and culture enthusiast that likes to tell stories and build architectural narratives exploring the relations between people, technology, and space. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from Instituto Tecnologico de Tijuana (Mexico) and a Master in Architectural Management and Design from IE School of Architecture and Design in collaboration with IE Business School in Madrid (Spain) and the Royal College of Art in London (UK). Cristo has been involved with Pacific Rim Park since 1998 when building the park in San Diego, CA. Besides running his own practice, he works as a full-time designer/BIM manager for an architectural award-winning firm in San Diego. Recently he joined STUDIO Architectural and Urbanism magazine about the contemporary urban condition as part of their worldwide network of correspondents.

Daniel “Dan” Márquez is an engineer, architect, designer and professor at the Instituto Tecnológico de Tijuana, where he is founder and Head of the Industrial and Product Design Engineering program. He also codesigns and builds residences around the city and Valle de Guadalupe.

Don is a Landscape Architect, Urban Planner, and Urban Designer. He is passionate in making cities inclusive, livable, and vibrant. He has more than 10 years of professional experience and he is actively involved in different phases of design conceptualization, project management, and site supervision in various local and international projects. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Ecohaven Design Studio, a landscape architecture and urban design studio specializing in public open spaces design, master planning, real estate development and tourism and hospitality projects.

Peter Jensen is a former magazine editor, travel writer, and architecture/design writer who has worked, on staff or freelance, with numerous national and regional magazines, including Sunset, This Old House, Old House Journal, San Diego Home/Garden, Coastal Living and many more. He is also the author of nine travel books and a contributor for numerous guidebooks. Other clients include international health resorts, art institutes, museums, real estate developers, and non-profit organizations (pro bono), including Ilan-Lael Foundation (current) and Torrey Pines Conservancy (current). He lives in Del Mar, California. A widower, he is the father of two grown sons. He enjoys travel in Mexico, hiking, canoeing, sketching, and … writing!

I, Garrett Goodwin, am a native from San Diego. I am 38 years old and am currently working as a full time artist building with a variety of materials. I have an Art Studio in San Diego where I have been able to produce small and large scale works out of metal, wood, paint, recycled materials, concrete, tile and glass. I have a bachelor in Studio Arts from the University of Hawaii from 2009. My life has been an extraordinary adventure fueled by my passion for creating beautiful things with my hands, that come from my heart and my creativity. I was blessed at a young age to come from a family of artists who supports me and continually gives me the courage to pursue my dreams.
My dreams have now become a reality. I have worked with professionals, with children, with development groups, city planners, Architects, Contractors, and clients from a wide variety of circumstances. From my experiences, I have been able to work in a plethora of job criteria, including The Pacific Rim Parks Projects. First as a volunteer, secondly as a student and Thirdly as a leader. From this types of work, I have practiced design aspects all the way to the finished product. The process is the basis of any challenge. All the nuances that curtail from scheduling, managing, estimating materials, building and even billing can be daunting at times. Yet, from what I have learned from working on my own, you need to be able to utilize certain peoples strengths and weaknesses and at that point make the right decisions to really help elevate stress so that my focus can be on the objectives of illustrating a finished product properly and successfully.
I am happy to say I am a part of something larger than the San Diego region. I am a piece of a global community that by working together we can make a change in the lives of others around the Pacific Ocean for the generations of millions to enjoy forever.

Expert in both start ups and brand identity, Laurie’s California-based studio, Dietter Design provides creative services including brand identity, product packaging, print collateral, website development and outreach. Dietter is equally known for bringing the sensibility of a visual artist to her strategic skills as a marketer, art director, designer and photographer, as she is for her work as a team leader and consensus-builder. Her passions include painting, hiking, yoga, farmers’ markets, tending the herb garden, her chickens, and cooking organic meals on her beloved Chambers 1950s range. Born and raised in New England, she lives in San Diego with her family.

Higgin has participated in the Pacific Rim Park (PRP) projects since they’ve been planning building a park in his hometown, Jeju, Korea in 2009. He had coordinated with local Korean community to support the project and he also brought his technical specialty in IT, and developed and maintained the PRP website. He is specialized in developing dynamic and interactive web pages. Lately, he’s been developing websites with “Mobile First” design concept using responsive/adaptive frameworks.
Higgin has had extensive international technical cooperative experience while working for a Navy R&D lab and recently, he has served as a Science Director in Tokyo, Japan and collaborated with researchers in Asian countries for more than five years. He has supported their basic researches especially in information science, cybersecurity, and communications.
Higgin is still supporting various non-profit organizations as a webmaster after retirement from the Navy R&D Lab after 30 years of service.

Beloved people and local nature helped me to grow and notice Beauty in ordinary things day by day.
While studying architecture I started participating different international projects in the architecture and design field and got many friends from all over the world.
A little later I started to share my ideas and experience with architecture students as a teaching assistant and curator.
Today I keep moving in my creative process also as a wife and mother.

Since she was young she has liked art, finance, and the humanitarian area. Hanni has a bachelor in Graphic Design career at UAG, in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco. She has studied different diplomas in Business and International Trade, Business Administration and Management, Communication and Audiovisual Media, Access Consciousness Bars, and Emotional Biodecoding.

Since 2000, she has been in charge of the relationship with the bank and business treasury of a construction and Maintenance company in México. She is the mother of two little artists, Santiago and Franco Lee.

Architect Alina Mizevich graduated from Far Eastern State Technical University FESTU in 2007. While at university she took part in many international student conference and exhibitions, including Pacific Rim Park Tijuana ( 2004). As PRP alumni, she has participated in other PRP projects including Jeju (2010) and Kaohsiung (2013). For the past 14 years, she has been working as an architect in Vladivostok on a variety of residential buildings, kindergartens, and public buildings. She was a member of a group of architects working for the large Aquarium project on Russian island outside Vladivostok. Ms. Mizevich is proud to be the daughter of an architect.

Eugenia Wang received her architectural training at the University of Southern California along with a minor in Business Administration. Upon receiving the degree in 2011, Eugenia Wang entered Beijing Tsinghua University’s architecture program and received a Master of Architecture degree in 2014. Before moving back to Taiwan in 2019, she worked for Altoon Partners and AECOM, practicing retail and amusement park architectural design. Eugenia is currently working at a local real estate firm in Taipei and would continue to explore the meaning and connection between architectural design and humanity.

Originally hailing from New Orleans, Dennis-Michael Broussard relocated to San Diego to pursue his higher education aspirations. Dennis-Michael (or DM) is an event producer, tireless community servant and volunteer, entrepreneur, adventurer, and wanna-be humanitarian.

His event production company, Silk Road Productions, has created and/or produced many award-winning and critically acclaimed events throughout Southern California. He is also a co-creator and was executive producer of the Telly Award winning, hit television show, Asian Voices, a magazine style show that shares the untold stories of the Asian American community in Southern California.

An advocate of higher education, he earned his B.S. in Marketing from the University of New Orleans, receiving top honors as the Outstanding Marketing Student in his graduating class. Dennis-Michael then earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of San Diego, as well as a Master of International Affairs from the UC San Diego School of Global Policy and Strategy.

Dennis-Michael is also known for his humanitarian efforts around the globe. His international volunteerism in Thailand and Indonesia led to his founding of The Humanitarian Project, an organization whose mission is to “help humanity” by planning and executing humanitarian projects for impoverished people around the world. Dennis-Michael has led humanitarian missions to Senegal, Nepal, Kenya, Tanzania, the Philippines, and Uganda.
